We have been working hard for this year's event and it's got bigger with so many exciting events. The event now starts at Cousins Park at 4pm. The City of Peachland and the Mayor Cindy Fortin kicks off the event with a FREE BBQ, of course with refeshments. Peachland Lions Club is firing up the grill this year and we thank them so much, there always come thru for community spirit. The party is a thank you to the residents off Peachland, along Beach Avenue, and other side streets, who worked hard to keep the flood waters out. Also the workers from the city, regional, and province really did a outstanding job. This get together along with some short speechs from the Mayor, Dan Albas, MP, Dan Ashton, MLA, our beloved Fire Chief Dennis, and others will be great to hear. We have a special banner in which you can sign and say Thank You.  There are so many things for the kids to do. We have a power water slide, a dunk tank, rumour has it the Mayor and Dal Albas will be in it, a toonie for a throw. Valley First Credit Union event crew will be there, with face painting and other games. Peachland Boys & Girls Club will also have some outdoor fun activities for the kids.

The signature event is a fund raiser for the Peachland Boys & Girls Club, so donations are accepted , nice to help them out. They are also having a raffle, a excellent prize and a excellent clause. You buy a ticket for $20.00 and your name is draw right before the movie, and you are on your way anywhere where WESTJET flies for two people return trip. That would be sweet!  There are only 350 tickets, so odds are in your favor.  Pre sales are available at the Boys & Girls Club Peachland on Beach, and Johnson Meier Insurance and both the Coldwell Banker offices.

With free food and drink, and kids having a blast, we have some music entertainment, country western band Dion Westbrod & The Unbranded take the stage at 6:30pm. They are excellent, and so glad we have them for you to enjoy.

The movie this year in case you dont know is "A Dog Purpose" a really good flim about dogs. The pre show starts at 8:30pm ( draw for Westjet raffle at 8:45pm) . The weather looks great, and a excellent family event.

We are getting all of our dino's in a row and ready to roll out Boys & Girls Club 2nd Annual Movie in the Park. The Big Movie is Jurassic World.  We are changing venue's this year from Hertitage Park, to Cousins Park, by the yellow schoolhouse.  We are praying for hot sunny skies. We are so happy our sponsors came thru once again this year in order to make it possible for the residents of Peachland to enjoy a night out with their families.

The sponsors we have to once again praise for community spirit are New Monaco, TNI Network, Peachland Chamber of Commerce, Coldwell Banker Horizon Realty, Bliss Bakery, Johnson Meier Insurance, Edward Jones, Westside Curb Appeal, and Todd's RV & Camping. A big kudo's to Todd's for celebrating 60 years in Peachland.

Also we can't forget our media partners, Ez Rock, Sun Fm, Peachland  View, and the City of Peachland. This years event will be hosted once again by the sister- brother real estate agents in Peachland, Cecile Guilbault & Larry Guilbault of Coldwell Banker.

The Big Star of this event is the Boys & Girls Club of Peachland. Not only are we excited by providing family entertainment  on a warm summer night, but also bring awareness to the important community organization in our town.  The event if free but suggested donations are $3 per person or $10 per family.  Come out, have some fun, help raise some money for the Boys and Girls Club, and please thank the sponsors by dropping by their business and  just say Hello.  Community Spirit is a great thing with deciated businesses making it a great place to live.

Thank You for Succesful Movie Night

Looking back on the 2015 event at Heritage Park, it was a great success being the 1st annual ever outdoor movie night in Peachland. The day before was hot and sunny, the day of the movie a mixed day of clouds and wind, the next day hot and sunny.  Even with the cooler climate and light winds and the possible sign of rain, some 250 people from the community and visitors took to Heritage Park to see Paddington. I have to say, the production crew and myself were a bit nervous  around 4pm when the screen was being blown up and we were hoping for the best.  Our prayers were answered around 7pm when the winds died, and it was quite pleasant at the start of the movie.  As i was enjoying the movie Paddington, I could see the clouds going away making room for dark clear skies, and at the end of the movie it was a bit chilly, but we made it. It was a good plan to have a blanket nearby.  It turned out to be a very good event for the whole family.

Everyone really liked the movie Paddington, even the adults were surprized how much they enjoyed it. We had dodged the rain, and cold, and made a difference for the Peachland Boys & Girls Club. We raised almost $1900 for a 3 hour event, which was great for the Boys & Girls Club. I was happy many sponsors and individuals stepped up and really helped the event be a success. Marty Edwards provided excellent  pre movie music, Doris was busy selling marmalade sandwiches, the members of the Boys and Girls club were selling drinks, popcorn and candy, the Rotary Club selling some great food,  Out sponsors of the event were much needed for the event, and we say Thank You and we will see you in 2016.

It such a pleasure to write the first blog detailing Peachland's 1st Annual movie night upcoming on August 15. It all possible by some excellent sponsors,  the Boys & Girls Club of Peachland, City of Peachland, and of course the star of the show 'Paddington".  Fresh Air Cinema of Vancouver are coming out to Peachland with there biggest screen, and  here's hoping to a beautiful summer night on the Lake at Heritage Park. It promises to be a real family outing for all to enjoy. As we get closer to the event , I will go into detail of providing insight into our great sponsors of the event, the good work being done at the Boys & Girls Club in Peachland, and if I'm lucky may get a pre -movie interview with Paddington. Stay tuned.
